"I became impassioned with mosaic while still studying in the university's School of Industrial Design. Our classes offered the practice of many diverse techniques. My first contact with this art occurred with discarded pieces of Portuguese tiles when my father remodelled his apartment. My attempt to find a new use for the relics resulted in a very, very beautiful pot. On my own, I applied my knowledge of design to colors, forms and functionality.
