Ketut Wardana

"My name is Ketut Wardana and I was born in Tegalalang, renowned for its woodcarving legacy. The surrounding area is also known for its rice fields, so the carvings are executed on soft woods.

"I where come from, most people are dedicated to carving works of art. At first, I didn't pay attention to what was happening around me, as people were busy creating works of art. I didn't even realize what was so special about that.

"Eventually I came to recognize that creating works of art is the main thing they can do, and it accounts as a means of subsistence. Slowly but surely, I started to fall in love with this world of art, so I learned to carve and how to apply color.

"I work with my family and we strive to create designs that are different, as well as items that are of good quality. My favorite themes are flowers, frogs, fruits, and animal motifs, whereas my style is characterized by bright colors."
